24-January-25

Dear Parents,

Readalong

Readalong 2025 began on Monday and will run for two weeks until Friday 24th January. The sponsorship money has already been included in the donation requested at the start of the school year. As a result, the boys will not be asked to complete a sponsorship card. The book swap has been a great success and caused a positive buzz in the classroom. The older classes are using the Epic app to read some books online. The Scavenger Book Hunt is taking place today and tomorrow for the younger classes in school. Well done to Alex Price (Ms. Donnelly’s 1st class), Charlie O’Brien (Ms. Staunton’s 2nd class), Quinn Ansboro (Ms. Walsh’s 3rd class) and Lughaidh Kehoe (Mr. Lynch’s 4th class) who entertained everyone by reading an extract from their novel on the intercom. Thanks to Ms. Donnelly, Ms. Brennan and Ms. Russell for organising this initiative.

Volunteers for Confirmation (Thursday 27th February) and First Holy Communion (Saturday 17th May)

Our Parents’ Association (PA) are looking for volunteers to help provide refreshments after Confirmation on Thursday 27th February (in the Parish Centre) and the First Holy Communion on Saturday 17th May (in the School Hall). We are making a particular appeal to parents from first class and fifth class as these parents will enjoy a similar hospitality next year. Please email parents.association@stmarysbnslucan.com if you are available to volunteer on these dates.

Cultural Awareness

Last week we were delighted to welcome Lukas, Kostas, Hamza and Marcus who gave us some interesting facts about Lithuania and read poems in Lithuanian over the school intercom.

Lucan Sarsfields GAA Academy

Lucan Sarsfields would love to give any boy or girl the opportunity to come and experience our national sport of hurling/camogie and Gaelic football. The club’s Academy starts back on the 25th of January and if this sounds of interest or if you would like to know any more information then please contact the club coach, Alan O’Neill, on 087-1213587. Please see the attached poster for more information.

Le dea-ghuí,

Dara Burke, Principal.
