Department of Education and Youth Survey
The Department of Education and Youth has asked Primary School Principals to send the letter attached to this email, to all parents of children enrolled in Primary School. The letter contains a link to a short, confidential survey about Primary Schools. This is an important survey. It is the first time that a survey of this scale is being run by the Department of Education and Youth in Ireland. The results of the survey will help the department plan provision of education at primary level. The survey will close on Tuesday, 16th December 2025. For more information, visit: www.gov.ie/primaryschoolsurvey
County Photos – family/individual photos & Christmas calendar
County Photos visited our school on Monday and took family photos (boys with siblings) and individual photos (boys with no siblings in the school). These photographs will be for sale in the coming days. They also took group photos of all the classes for our Christmas Calendar. This is a fundraiser organised by our Parents’ Association and there will be more information on this in the weeks to come.

Cycle Safety for fifth class
Cycle safety classes started this week for fifth class. The boys are encouraged to bring their own bicycles and helmets to school on Wednesdays for this programme. Thanks to all parents who have paid the €12 for this course. However, there are still a number of outstanding online payments for this course.
Bob-a-Job – School hall painted during the midterm and new furniture delivered
Thanks to everyone who donated money for our Bob-a-Job fundraiser. We managed to raise €6645 so far. This money was put to good use during the midterm. Our hall was painted and new chairs were delivered. We are still waiting for our new noticeboards and we will order new sports equipment for PE.
Wet leaves on Chapel Hill
A number of boys have fallen off their bikes coming to school on Chapel Hill due to the wet leaves on the footpath. We have been in contact with Councillor Caroline Brady to ask the council to remove these leaves as soon as possible. We would like to encourage boys to dismount their bikes at the top of the hill and walk down with their bikes until the leaves have been removed.
New additions to Carambola’s hot meals menu
Our hot meal provider, Carambola, have added a few more tasty options to their menu. The new additions include:
- Pizza and corn on the cob,
- Sausages, beans and mash
- Chicken goujons with potato cubes and sweet corn
- Chicken curry with noodles
John Bellew – All-Star Hurling nomination tomorrow night
Well done to the Lucan Sarsfields Intermediate hurlers who won their county championship over the midterm. Hard luck to the Senior hurling team who were narrowly beaten by the current All-Ireland champions, Na Fianna, by 1 point.
John Bellew is a past-pupil of our school and was nominated for a hurling All-Star award this year. John played corner back for the Dublin senior hurling team that beat Limerick to reach the All-Ireland semi-final. Unfortunately John was not selected as an All-Star and we hope he enjoys the ceremony tomorrow night.
Le dea-ghuí,
Dara Burke, Principal.
