Dear Parents,

Seachtain na Gaeilge

Táimid ag ceiliúradh Seachtain na Gaeilge ar scoil 3ú Marta – 13ú Marta. Tá go leor rudaí ar siúl againn agus tá na buachaillí go léir ag déanamh an-iarracht a bheith ag caint as Gaeilge. Beidh Gaeilgeoir na Seachtaine againn an tseachtain seo agus beimid ag roghnú Gaeilgeoir na Seachtaine ó gach rang an tseachtain seo chugainn freisin.

Dé Luain chualamar Isaac Miles ó rang Ms. Staunton ag rá dán Gaeilge ar an idirchum. The boys from Mr. Keegan’s and Ms. Joyce’s 5th classes helped with Stáisiúin Gaeilge in senior infants, 1st and 2nd classes.

Bodhrán Buzz

The boys from second to sixth class will take part in a bodhrán workshop on Friday 7ú. The bodhrán is a traditional Irish music instrument.

Ciorcal Comhrá

Some of our 4th class boys will visit Gaelscoil Cois Life on Monday 10ú Marta. They will take part in conversational Gaeilge with the transition year students.

Céilí

The boys from 3rd class will take part in a céilí with the girls from Scoil Mhuire GNS on Tuesday 11ú. The boys have been busy practising Sál agus Barracín, An Dreoilín and Shoe the Donkey.

Lá Glas

Beidh Lá Glas againn Deardaoin, 13ú Marta.

Please check out our school Facebook page for photos of all the activities that have been going on.

World Book Day

Thanks to all the boys who made an effort to dress up as their favourite book character for World Book Day. There was a great buzz on the school yard today with all the various costumes.

STEM Week – Scientist of the Week

Well done to all the boys listed below who won the Scientist of the Week award in their respective classes. Thanks to Ms. Whitney for organising the awards.

Cultural Awareness

Well done to Noah and Arthur who entertained us with information about Brazil this week on the school intercom.

Noah Erlacher-Chigwedere recited a poem in Portuguese about ‘Choices’ and Arthur Martins read a poem about the ‘Colours of the World’. We look forward to hearing more about Nigeria tomorrow.

Marcus McCracken – GAA referee training session

Marcus McCracken from Mr Keegan’s 5th Class will be in Croke Park today doing a referee training session with inter-county referee, David Gough, as part of the Cumann na mBunscol’s Half-time Games.

Accord Information Night for parents of 5th & 6th class on Relationships and Sexuality

Accord will give their Relationship and Sexuality presentation to fifth class boys on the 19th March and to sixth class boys on the 10th March. Thanks to all the parents who logged into our Information Night for parents on Tuesday night via Microsoft Teams. This session was recorded so please let us know if you were unable to login and would like to see what you missed.

Table Tennis

There was loads of great table-tennis action this week. Team I; Fionn, Luke, Will and Eoghan, were defeated by an excellent St Ronan’s team before securing a hard-fought win against Lucan East Educate Together today. Team II; Thomas, Ollie, Robbie and Conor, also secured a league win against our Lucan neighbours, Lucan East, earlier today.

Steam Academy

The Steam Academy now offer an after-school activity in robotics and programming for all boys from first to sixth class every Thursday for 90 minutes from 2.40pm to 4.10pm. There will be two separate classes for first, second and third class and the other session will be for fourth, fifth and sixth class. The first lesson will take place on Thursday 27th March. For more information please read their attached leaflet.

Please remember that our Senior hurlers will have games every Thursday soon so they may not be able to register for this course due to the clash of dates.

Le dea-ghuí,

Dara Burke, Principal.
