Thursday Letter 27.10.22

01-December-22

Dear Parents,

Parent Teacher Meetings – November

As outlined in last Thursday’s letter, Parent Teacher Meeting slots are now available to all Aladdin app users. Please access through the main page of your parent’s app.

Fancy Dress

We’re gearing up for our annual Monster Mash fancy dress tomorrow, Friday. Children are under no pressure to wear a costume but are more than welcome to do so on the day.

Bob-a-Job

Thanks to all the boys who completed their chores at home for our Bob-a-Job fundraiser. We are grateful to all parents who donated money. We do not have a final figure yet as some parents are still making donations.

Thanks to Issac Samuel, (Ms. Maguire’s senior infants) for helping his mother in the kitchen. Donnacha Tubridy (Ms Brennan’s Junior Infants) helped to put up Halloween decorations, hoovered the floor and helped out with the shopping. Donnacha Lancaster (Ms Copley’s first class) emptied the dishwasher while Jake Flynn (Ms. Killane’s Senior Infant) decorated his house for Halloween and did jobs around the house. Arthur Martins (Ms. Ryan’s first class) helped his dad to build his new bed and made his bed every morning. Andrew O’Brien (Ms. Geraghty’s first class) helping bring the shopping in from the car. Thomas Hargadon (Ms. Brennan’s Junior Infants) fed the hens, carved pumpkins and cleaned up the leaves into his tractor trailer. Tom Norry (Ms. Walsh’s second class) got in some last minute chores for our Bob-a-Job by cleaning the windows.

New feature on Aladdin for parents to report any absence

There is a new feature on Aladdin Connect which allows parents to report a reason for school absences.

Teacher Appointments

Parents, please be aware that if you’d like to arrange an appointment to speak to your son’s teacher, an appointment is generally required. Any issues or concerns should be raised with the class teacher initially. All visitors should report to the secretary’s office also.

Last day for sixth class applications for Coláiste Phádraig CBS is tomorrow Friday 28th October

The last day for sixth class applications for Coláiste Phádraig CBS is tomorrow Friday 28th October. We are the main feeder school for the CBS and all sixth class boys are guaranteed a place once they apply on time. Some families have been disappointed in the past because their application was too late.

Pre-loved uniform & clothes sale
Thanks to our Parents’ Association (PA) for organising the pre-loved uniforms and clothes sale. There was very little left to sell at the end of the day so it’s great that they will get a good home and get good use. All remaining clothes will be given to the St. Vincent de Paul shop in Lucan Village. The PA managed to raise €315 from this fundraiser.

Community Gardaí visit school

We were delighted to welcome Ciaran and Jim, two Lucan Community Gardaí, to St Mary’s today to speak to all five Fifth and Sixth Classes. They spoke to the boys about staying safe over Halloween; the dangers of fireworks, bangers and bonfires and also about being vigilant around the elderly, younger children and pets over the Halloween period.

Irish First Army Band will feature in the Liffey Champion later today

We have been informed that the Liffey Champion will feature photographs of the day that the Irish First Army Band visited our school.

Mid-term Break

School will be closed next week for our Halloween break. School will finish tomorrow at the usual time. I hope everyone has a great midterm.

Le dea-ghuí,

Fintan Clandillon,

Deputy Principal.
