Thursday Letter 23.06.22

Dear Parents,

Retirement of Dympna Hudson

I would like to wish Dympna Hudson (SNA) the best of luck in her retirement. Dympna has worked as a SNA in our school for the past 18 years and I would like to thank her for all her years of service and commitment to our school. Dympna is always so obliging and we will miss working with her.

Retirement of Mary McIvor and Mary Lohan

I would also like to congratulate Mary McIvor (Principal of Scoil Mhuire GNS) and Mary Lohan (Deputy-Principal of Scoil Mhuire GNS) on their retirement. Ms. Lohan was a member of our staff in the 1980s. Our school works very closely with Scoil Mhuire GNS as there are siblings in both schools and we have had a fantastic relationship with Ms. McIvor during her time as Principal. On a personal note I would like to thank Ms. McIvor for all her support and words of wisdom since I was appointed Principal. I would like to wish Ms. Sinead Bennis the best of luck in her new role as Principal.

Booklist

If you wish to purchase your child’s books through the school please pay on or before tomorrow the 24th June. If the booklist is not paid on Aladdin tomorrow then parents will have to purchase them in the book shop.

Cake Sale

The Parents’ Association (PA) committee would like to thank the boys and their families for the amazing response to our cake sale last week. The PA were overwhelmed with the amount of cakes, cookies and goodies that the boys and their families generously donated. There was a wonderful atmosphere on the day. Many thanks to the teachers for organising the classes to attend throughout the day and we appreciate your generosity and baking skills. The PA raised €4,386 from the cake sale and the raffle. As you know this money will go towards a new outdoor play area for our new special class.

The PA Committee would like to thank all families for their great support again throughout this year. The PA were fortunate that they could hold run some face to face get togethers at the end of the school year e.g. communion party, graduation party, sports day and cake sale. We look forward to seeing families for more events in the 2022/2023 school year. New members to the PA Committee are always welcome - no matter how much time you can give. If you are interested please e-mail parents.association@stmarysbnslucan.com.

The PA Committee would like to wish you a fun filled and healthy summer.

Ice-cream Van

Thanks to our PA for organising the visit of an ice-cream van on Tuesday. It was a lovely treat for the boys who were able to cool off on the pitch and enjoy the lovely sunshine.

Sixth Class Graduation – Wednesday 22nd July at 7pm in St. Mary’s Church

The sixth class graduation took place last night in St. Mary’s Church. Thanks to Mr. Clandillon, Mr. Dineen and Ms. Hennessy for all their hard work. We are very grateful to our Parents’ Association who provided teas, coffees and light refreshments in the school hall.

Teachers v Sixth Class boys

The annual ‘Teachers v Sixth Class boys’ football game took place yesterday. Well done to the boys who won 4 – 3. Max Campbell and Conor Abbott both scored twice for the boys. Mr. Keegan, Mr. Dineen and Mr. Shanahan scored for the teachers. It was an evenly contested game and created a great buzz around the school with all classes watching the game.
