Dear Parents,
First Confession for Second Class – Thursday 2nd March at 7pm in St. Mary’s Church
Thanks to all the parents who registered their sons for First Holy Communion. There are still a number of families who have not yet registered. The online registration has been extended to this evening so please register now if you want your son to receive First Holy Communion. First Confession will take place on Thursday 2nd March at 7pm in St. Mary's Church.
Wellbeing Week
We are having our annual Wellbeing Week from 23rd - 27th January. If there are any parents who have expertise in the area of Wellbeing (i.e. yoga, health and fitness etc.) and would be available to offer their services at some stage during that week please email ms.friel@stmarysbnslucan.com or call 01-6281857. We are very grateful to Suzanne Lynch for volunteering her services for this initiative. Thanks to Ms. Friel for organising this event.
Computer Coding
Computer coding will continue for a second term from the 26th and 27th January for fifth and sixth class. There will be seven sessions that will cost €30 per child. We are very grateful to our Parents’ Association who have agreed to fund €10 per child. All families from fifth and sixth class received online payment requests yesterday to pay the balance of €20.
HSE walk-in flu vaccine
As I mentioned last week, the HSE has reported rising numbers of flu cases and 700 instances of children under the age of 14 being hospitalised with the virus this winter. The walk-in clinics will be available at no charge for children from age two to 17 in community vaccine centres in addition to participating GPs and pharmacies until 23 January. Please find attached a memo from the HSE.
Cycling for fifth class
Fifth class boys will have cycle safety classes starting on Wednesday 1st February. Please encourage your son to bring his own bicycle and helmet to school if you think it is safe to do so. There will be a number of bikes and helmets to borrow on the day. Fifth class boys will have a great fortnight with basketball on Tuesday, cycling on Wednesday and computer coding on Thursday. I wish these activities were available to me when I was in fifth class!
Fundraiser for Nagarhope
Nagarhope is a charity that was set up by a past-pupil, Fachtna Clandillon, to raise money to help the people of Nepal to rebuild their country after the devastating earthquake in 2015. Nagarhope has organised a fundraising event in the Lucan SPA Hotel on Friday 10th February 2023 at 8pm. There will be an Elvis tribute concert supported by the ‘The Way It Was’ orchestra who are also past-pupils of our school. Tickets cost €35. Please call 087-0666891 or 087-9225103 for more information.
