Bob-a-Job
We are inundated with the number of Bob-a-Job photos and we encourage parents to continue sending them in. We will try our best to upload all these photos to our school Facebook page. The closing date for all cards and money will be Tuesday 24th October.
Tired of stacking or emptying the dishwasher or cleaning dishes? Then all your worries are over as you can count on Baimise Adesanya (Mr. McHugh’s third class), Michael Twomey (Ms. Donovan’s first class), Ollie O’Neill (Ms. Dempsey’s first class), Jazim Khan (Ms. Joyce’s fifth class), Iarlaith D’Arcy (Ms. Donovan’s third class) or Isaac Baasiakoh (Ms. Brennan’s Senior Infants) to have those dishes spotless. There aren’t too many dusty carpets around the house when Rian Twomey (Ms. Dempsey’s first class) and Dara Carthy (Ms. Garry/Ms. Noonan’s Senior Infants) get the hoovers out. If you’re looking for fine dining then Luke McDermott (Ms. Maguire’s Junior Infants), Ross Malone (Mr. Walsh’s second class), Adam Hosback (Ms. Donovan’s third class) and Charlie O’Brien (Ms. Ryan’s first class) are the masters at setting your dining table. Jamie Oliver better watch his back because Thomas Cooney (Ms. Quinn’s fourth class), Eoghan Ware (Ms. Joyce’s fifth class), Jazim Khan (Ms Joyce’s fifth class), Thomas Hargadon (Ms. Brennan’s Senior Infants) and Brian Kenny (Mr. Shannon’s second class) are wizards in the kitchen when it comes to preparing culinary delights. Evan O’Sullivan (Ms. Garry/Ms. Noonan’s Senior Infants), Joel Soji (Ms. Dempsey’s first class) and Daithí Quinn (Ms. Garry/Ms. Noonan’s Senior Infants) like to have their cars gleaming when they’re finished with their sponge and suds. Diarmuid Gavin could really do with Anthony Costello (Mr. McHugh’s third class), Raju Battu (Mr. Clandillon’s sixth class) and Daniel McDonnell (Ms. Donovan’s third class) in his garden as they take great care of all the garden furniture and accessories. O’Brien Brothers Window Cleaners Limited hope to set up a franchise as Naoise O’Brien (Ms. Dempsey’s first class) and Donagh O’Brien (Ms. Garry/Ms. Noonan) make short work of those windows. Ronan Kennedy (Ms. Joyce’s fifth class) and Rian Carley (Ms. Ryan’s first class) are real animal lovers as Ronan makes sure that his labrador, Milo, doesn’t go hungry and Rian takes good care of his hamster, Lulu. Gerard Martin (Ms. Teehan’s sixth class) takes great pride in his appearance and likes to ensure that there are no creases in his uniform when he gives it a quick rub with the iron at home.
Cultural Awareness
Last Friday we were entertained by some wonderful poetry from Romania and Moldova. We decided to focus on these two countries together as they speak the same language. Eric Savin (Ms. Hennessey’s sixth class) read a poem about a hard-working ant and Ion Turcan (Ms. Hennessey’s sixth class) described Moldova. Stephen Petrisor (Ms. Teehan’s sixth class) recited a poem on birds in nature. Damian Tenter and David Burlac (Mr. McHugh’s third class) read poems about a fly and a bee. Ioan Gabor and Matei Gabor recited rhymes describing the growth of sunflowers and the moonlight. We look forward to listening to some boys with Polish heritage tomorrow.
Walk to School Week
This week is ‘National Walk to School Week’. We have a new Green School committee for the year ahead with representatives from each class. We encourage as many boys as possible to walk or travel by active means to school. We understand of course that this is not possible for every family. The green school boys have gathered data on how we travel to school for this week. There will be prizes for the best junior and senior class.

Gaelic Football
Hard luck to our senior A footballers who were beaten by Pius X last week in Lucan Sarsfields. Our junior football team put up a great fight against St. Joseph’s, Terenure in Bushy Park on Tuesday. Many thanks to Mr. Clandillon, Mr. Keegan, Ms. Ryan, Mr. Walsh and Mr. McHugh for all their time organising matches after school.
Le dea-ghuí,
Dara Burke, Principal.
