Thursday Letter 13.12.18

Dear Parents,

Nativity Plays

Well done to our Senior Infant boys for putting on fantastic Nativity Plays. Huge credit must be given to Ms. Friel and Ms. Dardis for all their hard work. Many thanks to our wonderful team of SNAs, particularly Belinda and Diane for helping the boys to prepare for their performance. Our school hall looks like Santa’s grotto and the SNAs deserve a lot of thanks for that.

Christmas Concert – Wednesday 19th December at 7pm in school hall

We are all looking forward to our choir’s performance at our annual Christmas Concert which takes place in our school hall at 7pm on Wednesday 19th December. All boys are asked to wear a white shirt with collar and the school tie. The boys have been practicing with Ms. Hunston and Alison McHugh.

Carol Service in Bank of Ireland

4th and 5th class boys from our school choir will give a short performance in the Bank of Ireland in Lucan on Thursday 20th December at 11.30am. The bank has agreed to donate money to a charity of our choice.

6th Class Treasure Hunt

All our 6th class boys had a great day in the city centre yesterday taking part in a Treasure Hunt. The boys were well-behaved and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Thanks to all involved. Please check our Facebook page for photos.

Engineer’s Week – 4th to 8th March 2019

Engineer’s Week will take place from the 4th to 8th March 2019. Last year, we had great help from parents in the school who are qualified engineers such as Regina Briscoe, Denis Kelly, Mike Reed, Séadhna Hannon and Ciarán Byrne. If you are a qualified engineer and would be interested in volunteering during these dates, please email the school address or contact Regina Briscoe at reginabriscoe@gmail.com.

Christmas Annual – €4 in school office

Our Christmas Annuals are now on sale in the school office for €4. ‘Súgradh’ is for Junior and Senior Infants. ‘Spraoi’ is for 1st and 2nd class. ‘Siamsa’ is for 3rd and 4th class and ‘Sonas’ is for 5th and 6th class. The annuals are full of activities, jokes, quizzes, crosswords, word searches, interviews and stories. Tablets, bikes, scooters and Smyths gift cards are some of the prizes that can be won. There is a free Christmas pencil or pen with every annual.

Santa Dash – 21st December

It’s that time of year again when we start to think about those less well off than ourselves. With that in mind we are having a Santa Dash in aid of St. Vincent de Paul on the 21st December. We are asking boys to wear something festive for the run and contribute to the charity. Money will be collected on that day.

Abhinav and Aniruddh Sriram – 6th class – Leinster Table Tennis Squad

Congrats to Abhinav (Ms. Teehan’s 6th class) and Aniruddh Sriram (Ms. O’Malley’s 6th class) who were selected for the Leinster table tennis squad. This is a great achievement for the boys. Aniruddh is seeded 3rd and Abhinav is seeded 14th in the province.

Lucan Sarsfields Christmas Festival

Please support the Lucan Sarsfields Christmas Craft Fair on the 16th December from 12pm – 5pm. Children will get a chance to meet Santa, receive a gift and post a letter to the North Pole between 3 and 6pm. Contact Jackie Foley on 086-6776122 or jackiefoley10@gmail.com for more information.

Vomiting Bug – 48 hours

Please remember to keep your son out of school for two days if he has the vomiting bug. It is highly contagious and can affect other students and staff.

Date for the Diary

Please remember that school will close on Friday 21st December at 11.50am for Junior and Senior Infants and 12 noon for all other classes. School will reopen on the 7th January at 9am.

Le dea-ghuí,

Dara Burke, Principal.
