Dear Parents,

New Appointments

Ms. Caroline Byrne will continue to work as Special Education Teacher (SET). Mr. Daire Shanahan will also be working as a SET.

Active Flag

Our Active Flag Ceremony took place on Tuesday. Chris Crummy, captain of the Dublin Hurling team, was our guest of honour. Conor Biggs, Eoghan Ware, Luke Whelan and Brodie Bligh from our Active Flag Committee assisted Chris to raise the flag. We are very proud of this achievement. Well done to all involved. We look forward to representing Ireland in the European Competition. Thanks again to our team of teachers who were involved with this initiative all year. Remember our Active Flag slogan over the summer – ‘BE COOL, BÍ AG SÚIL’!

End of Year Concert

Our choir have had another busy and successful year culminating with a wonderful end of year concert. The feedback was very positive from all those who attended. It was a very enjoyable evening which showcased the great talent in our school. There were a couple of notable performers that deserve special mention. Well done to our soloists, Charle McHugh on piano and Omar Alkrdi on violin. Fionn McCarthy and Joshua Murphy gave a beautiful rendition of Pei Jesu. Thanks to Adam Kelly, Daire Maguire, Pearse D’Arcy, Thomas D’Arcy, Eoin Murphy, Cian Kelly and Senan Wright for helping me to perform Hey Jude. We would like to thank Mrs. Donnelly for all the years of service that she has given to our school choir and we are so grateful for her guidance and expertise. We are very grateful to Alison Thomas for accompanying the boys on piano. Many thanks to Ms. Hunston for all the time and effort that she has given to our wonderful singers.

Sixth Class Graduation

Our sixth class boys celebrated their Graduation last night in St. Mary’s Church. The boys recapped on some of their fond memories in the school. Thanks to Fr. Philip Curran for his input. We are very grateful to the Parents’ Association for organising light refreshments in the Parish Centre. Thanks to Marcella, our SNA for helping both classes on the night. We appreciate the many hours that Mr. Clandillon and Ms. Teehan spent on compiling so many old photos of the boys for their slide show and for organising the event.

Old Back-Packs

Tomorrow is the last day for our collection of old school bags or back packs that are in good condition for the homeless. Please leave them in the school office. Thanks to Alison Thomas for organising this initiative.

Hurling

Our Junior A team played against Scoil Mhuire in Parnell Park on Monday. It was a very entertaining game and the boys really enjoyed playing on such a prestigious venue. Thanks to all the parents who helped with lifts and offered so much support during the year. We are very grateful to Mr. Clandillon and Mr. Keegan for organising this event.

Cricket Blitz

Eight boys from each of the fourth classes really enjoyed the Leinster Cricket blitz in Corkagh Park last Friday. They played teams from Scoil Áine, Clondalkin, Rathfarnham and Whitechurch. Both teams played excellently scoring lots of runs and taking wickets. Mr. Keegan’s class were delighted to win the battle of St. Mary’s with St. Mary’s taking second and third place overall. Thanks to Ms. Staunton and Ms. Quinn for supervising our teams.
